I really liked the half log cabin block, didn’t know there was one. I haven't seen a quilt made with that block yet.

Thanks. A question: My brother & his wife now live in Australia & when they are back here & on the way back to Australia, he will e-mail: Going back to Oz or Back in the land of Oz. Is this what people call Australia as a slang type name?Originally Posted by Anna from Oz

Got a kick out of you going to the land of Oz. There is a quilt shop near here called Quilts by the Oz. The owner said it got its name after her husband took her to a steak house in Chicago called Steaks by the Oz. She thought the name was cute, but didn't understand the name till he explained that the steaks were by the ounce. She named her quilt shop that way because it was catchy. I think so too, never forget the name of her shop.

Yes, Margee this is slang for Australia - I'm an Aussie from the land of Oz or Aussieland, I haven't seen it spelt ozzieland. I bet your brother and his wife hear some great slang as they get out of the cities and into rural areas. The will see a lot of the Aussie Salute - brushing away flies with the hand/s.
