*Drool* So many nice new machines. I don't need one though. I've gotta be good and not spend what I don't have.

Always double check the quality of these machines. Many made for Walmart, Joann, etc..are made with somewhat less quality parts. IE..plastic instead of metal. They are less costly for a reason. Try seeking out an actual sewing machine store. Many sell vacumns & sewing machines. The ones around here are great! Always helpful with the machine & advice long after purchase & usually they also do repairs. For an 'extra' $100. or so..it may well be worth it . At least, that's what I found to be true. Good luck, with whatever you choose!

Pls don't drool too much over the "sales" at big box stores. Joann's is the Walmart of the sewing/crafting world. If you want a new machine go to a dealer. They're prices are competitive. They really want your business. You'll get classes advice & way better service. Give the local dealer a shot before you buy & regret

I agree with Franklindixie and Ellgeo...I would never buy any big ticket item from Walmart or Joanns. I bought a rolling bag for my sewing machine from Joanns and they wouldnt stand behind the item which was defective. Eventually I did get my money back directly from the manufacturer, but it was a big hassle. Of course, be sure the dealer you go to is a good one as well, but even a bad dealer would be better, in my humble opinion

I disagree, I bought my SQ9000 from Wal Mart a couple of years ago and it still does all I ask of it.
I bought my Brother PE 770 online from a Vac/sewing machine store and it too does what I ask of it.
My Janome 11543 was purchased off of Overstock.com and it runs just as good as the day it was delivered.
Also if I ever had a problem with a product bought at either of these stores. My issues were taken care of to my satisfaction every time.
I would rather give my business to Wal Mart or Jo-Ann's any day.
