Default Old Country Store (Intercourse, PA) Closes

I just received this message by email:

After 35 years of business, The Old Country Store has unexpectedly needed to close its doors.

No reason was given. I'm surprised as this store was always busy when I went there. Not a big as some of the other Lancaster county stores though.

such a surprising email - I'm hoping it's not due to family illness...but just can't imagine why they felt the need to shut down so quickly

Searched and found this: http://lancasteronline.com/article/l...uidation-.html

Bankruptcy is an awful thing.

I was just there on Saturday. It was really busy. I'm sad and surprised.

I am not sure that this was due to economy, but maybe poor fiscal management. Either way, its sad. Especially since they opened the beautiful quilt museum upstairs.

I agree with the poor fiscal management. The owner siphoned the money out of his successful stores to finance an off-Broadway show. Dumb thing to do.
