Here is the web address for WalMart:

http://walmartstores.com/contactus/feedback.aspx

Choose "Company feedback and questions" and tell them what you want. If they hear from a few thousand of us, it could just work.

CarrieAnne 01-09-2011 07:40 PM

Thanks. I will email them, it would be nice if it would work!

Jill 01-09-2011 07:51 PM

I just completed their online form...let's keep our fingers crossed.

frugalfabrics 01-09-2011 07:53 PM

Ok, I'm doing it right now too!

davidwent 01-09-2011 07:56 PM

frugalfabrics 01-09-2011 07:59 PM

should I send it to Corporate Headquarters or my local store?

frugalfabrics 01-09-2011 08:04 PM

I sent it to Corporate. I told them that I haven't been in their store since they removed the full line of fabric - which is true. That use to be the reason I went into that place.

DebraK 01-09-2011 08:13 PM

good for you!

connie_1936 01-09-2011 08:21 PM

just sent one

connie_1936 01-09-2011 08:24 PM

where is the email address for corporate? mine went to the local store.

tmg 01-09-2011 08:37 PM

Thanks

cjomomma 01-09-2011 08:45 PM

Mine still has fabric and a lot of it. They have gotten in some really nice fabric's here lately.
Good luck to everyone in getting fabric back in your walmart's.

Toto's Mom 01-09-2011 08:59 PM

Thanks for the link.
As a quilter, I sent them a "piece" of my mind, for what it was worth. I contacted them several times when I heard they were taking fabrics and crafts supplies out. They ignored me.
I let them know their decision had been a boon to many of the small town businesses, as they have sold me tires, computer supplies, lawnmowers, appliances and loads of groceries that at one time I would have bought at Wal-mart.
I just don't have any use for matching Chinese made paper party accessories in this economy, and that is what they replaced our fabrics with in both local Wal-marts.

k9dancer 01-10-2011 04:49 AM

When you go to
http://walmartstores.com/contactus/feedback.aspx
and choose 'feedback & questions'
You will be able to make any remarks you wish. Then you have a choice to send it to corporate office or your local store. I chose corporate office, as that is where major decisions are made.

SueDor 01-10-2011 04:59 AM

Thanks for the web site. I told them that they took away not only our fabric, but our thread and zippers also.Stupid!
I told them we want our fabric back.

raptureready 01-10-2011 05:08 AM

I've been doing that since I first heard that the fabric departments were leaving and it did no good. They seem to think that they can appease us by choosing pre-cuts. I don't want someone else picking my fabric and I don't want it precut. It seems that Sam's kids haven't inhierited his business sense. They've taken a race horse, beaten it to death and are still trying to get it to run. I've about had it with our Walmarts all together. I'm switching to Meijers--cleaner, much friendlier staff, better layout, better selection, better quality, lower prices. Last week I started to buy some 2ltr Diet Coke at Walmart---$1.48 a bottle. Meijer had it 10 for $10 and get the 11th free.
Reinstalling the fabric department is the ONLY way I'm going back to Walmart for much of anything.

Many, many times over the past couple of years.

k9dancer 01-10-2011 05:51 AM

The only way we can make a difference is to speak up. I would love to have an affordable LQS, but we are in the country where the closest town that has a fabric store is over 80 miles away.

Toto's Mom 01-10-2011 08:05 AM

I got my response letter back from them this morning.
They are still touting the Chinese made paper products for the "celebrations of life" as being more useful and in demand.
Oh, well. They choose to ignore us. I choose not to spend one dime there again.

granky 01-10-2011 09:36 AM

Ok...I sent one to 'Walmart Corporation Headquarters'. I think that is the best place for them to go...right?

Yes, I think so. They really need to hear from a lot of us, though.

zennia 01-10-2011 02:50 PM

I wrote earlier today and just got a response from them. They said they took out the bolts of fabric in favor of a celebration center. I wrote back and told them they were crazy and I saw nothing in their store to celebrate. Bet I am on their s*** list but the truth is the truth

lindagor 01-11-2011 04:46 AM

Thanks for the link. I just sent my plea.

PATTIESPEARL 01-11-2011 05:53 AM

I sent it to corporate.

k9dancer 01-11-2011 06:15 AM

I received a response as well, and it sounds like the same corporate mantra. My response was that I don't throw parties, and even if I did, wasting money on decorations would not be a priority.

nab 01-11-2011 06:18 AM

this is the reply I got this am (1-11-11):

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding the fabric department in your local store. As with any merchandise decision that we make, we have based our decision to reduce the stitching and fabric departments on customer demand, which does not appear to be as high today for a full stitching and fabric offering in some markets as it may have been at Walmart in the past.

In keeping with our emphasis on being a store of the community, Walmart is converting the fabrics and crafts department in some stores to a newly expanded assortment of merchandise that focuses on life's celebrations. We are thrilled to offer our customers this exciting new crafts and celebrations center that makes available craft and party planning needs along with information on current trends and new ideas in the area of life's celebrations, such as holidays, weddings and birthdays.

In those stores where the new crafts and celebrations center is placed, merchandise commonly referred to as 'notions' will be included in the product offerings - such as sewing machines, yarn, needles, thread, etc. As a part of this conversion, most of our new and remodeled stores that opened earlier this year, as well as a small number of existing stores, will feature the new crafts and celebrations center in place of bolt fabrics. Walmart will continue to carry cut fabric in most of our stores. Due to the continued evaluation of our stores, we are unable to share a list of existing stores scheduled to receive the new crafts and celebrations center at this time.

Sincerely,
Walmart Customer Care

"Life's Celebrations" LOL
Maybe if enough of us reply they will hear us. All we can do is hope.
This was my reply:

You people up-top do not know what your customer's want because you never ask the people who will not give you the answer you want. You go on about your business not really caring about your customers. You will loose us people who truly love the fabric department. Why do you not ask the people who work in fabrics or who shop in fabrics? No, someone who loves to quilt or sew is not the one making the decisions. Most people here go to the Dollar Store or Party America for "Life's Celebration" as you call it. I am really disappointed in Wal-Mart, I expected better.

quilter41 01-11-2011 06:19 AM

Why? All they sell is low grade fabrics and rude clerks to wait on you.

Glenda m 01-11-2011 06:19 AM

Just sent my 'rant'..which is what I'm sure they will consider it. I guess we will see what they tell me. Let you know later.

k9dancer 01-11-2011 06:25 AM

Nab, I received the same email from them.

Quilter41, When I can find somebody to wait on me in WalMart's fabric department, they are always nice. In fact, I am surprised at just how nice all the employees are at our local WalMArt. Of course, I now live in a small town, and the biggest store here IS the WalMart. When I lived in a big city, that was different. Also, big cities have fabric stores, so we were not so dependent on WalMart there. Here in Mena, WallyWorld is the only place to get fabric without having to drive a couple of hours.

I worked in the fabric deptment and loved my customers. From the 92 years old lady that made pot scrubbers from net to the high school kids that were making pjs for class. The boys were so funny trying to buy fabric and being mocho about it. As for the quility of fabric..that is the department managers choice. We, for the most part, had a good selection, which is where part of my stash came from. I'm sorry you ran into bad fabric and salespeople that didn't care. But you're right, the quailty at Walmart has gone way down now that Sam is no longer with us.

SherryCat 01-11-2011 06:42 AM

Done!

djg 01-11-2011 06:53 AM

I just filled in the form today- let's hope it does some good

Glenda m 01-11-2011 07:17 AM

Well I got my reply. Is this what everyone else got..do they just change the name and send a form letter?

Dear Glenda,

k9dancer 01-11-2011 07:18 AM

That's what I got.

Kathy T. 01-11-2011 07:33 AM

Thanks for the link - I just filled it out because my local store is in the process of getting rid of their fabric. I quilt for children's charities and will have to cut back drastically without Wal-Mart. I understand that the LQSs don't have the buying power to change their prices, but there is a place for an inexpensive alternative. I will patronize LQS for heirloom quilts but Wal-Mart was fine for my donations worldwide if you were picky about which product. I'm distressed.

Roselandc19 01-11-2011 07:36 AM

I did it! Hope they get lots of emails.
thanks for the info

GrammaBabs 01-11-2011 08:03 AM

hi girls... having worked in our local "fabric dept"... for 3 years... i have been thru it all!!! the letters were sent, the people complained, but it all boils down to not wanting to pay an associate to "cut"... i was lucky we are a little country walmart and i used to personally help all my ladies, with knit, crochet, quilting and a lot of Men, buying gifts from sewing tables to machines or a huge pile of fabricc to add to the "stash".. it waa a wonderful job. i would work sunday and sell fabric faster than i could unpack it!!!
Alas.........the coporate people realized they weren't "making their margins" (profit)...
long story short... they totally redid our store... it was one of the first "prototype" "country food/dept. stores"... the food is very convenient.. and good pricing (although the next parking lot over is Stop and Shop, so that tells you what they were aiming for)......the local people were up and arms and are still fuming!!!! No Yarn, No fabric, yikes...no "plants", or lawn and garden... (my 800 home retirement comm. is a short ride from there,,, all love to plant and craft) "Hello"!!!! we all wrote like crazy... so now they have added to the "celebrations" area, some pre-cut,pre-packaged solids and prints. fleece, even some "project" pre-cut..
quilt pre-cuts....mid to low grade fabric and the RedHeart basic yarn seclection.. it's something anyway!
But basically we have only Joann's and "online" for fabric now... even the store i worked in that was a family business that boomed for almost 90 years has gone out... so ladies.. hold on to your stash... make fun quilts and hope that this country gets back to opening businesses that people WANT and pray that people will stop being so greedy... keeping a little less for themselves and trying to make things affordable again...

Dodee 01-11-2011 08:04 AM

Okay - I sent mine in.
By the way - the store in Rochester, Indiana has a nice selection of fabric. Wish I could have stayed and really looked it over.
