jcrilley - that is a good idea to pin the color catcher to the quilt. Thanks.

The Carbona brand has been around since my Grandmother's day. I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

The original Color Catchers were by Carbona, made with special terry cloth like fabric. They were sold in quilt shops and Hancock's Fabrics. Any 100% non treated cotton fabric can be used for a color catcher but it is expensive.

I love this board. I learn new "stuff" all the time.

I now put my CC's in lingerie bags.

I've seen a DIY color catchers recipe online somewhere. If you google it it should be easy to find.

I use a 'wide mesh' washing bag not the finer mesh one...works great and //so far// no color catchers have escaped down the drain.

I recently washed a large quilt at the laundry-mat and put 4 color catchers in the wash. I was very worried that the colors would run. They didn't and the color catchers disappeared. I don't know what happened to them and neither did the attendant. I wanted to see if they had any color on them. Strange, huh.
