Connecting Threads Stash Up subscription Club

https://www.connectingthreads.com/stashupclub

I saw this in their catalog today. Anyone signed up for this? I did for one month to see what is in the box. I like CT's fabrics and notions. Should be a fun.

fruitloop 05-14-2019 04:18 PM

I signed up too. I think this is the first month of it. It seems to be a new thing. And free shipping. I'm looking forward to see what is in the box. Sew Sampler box has gotten better and better. Quilty box has been too blah lately, I stopped getting that one.

NZquilter 05-14-2019 04:25 PM

I saw that in their catalog too. I can't afford to sign up this month, but please share what you get! Their fabrics are really nice and I like their threads. Should be a good box!

sewbizgirl 05-14-2019 04:26 PM

I buy my fabric when it's on sale, or wholesale when I can. The only drawback of this offer is that the boxes are a $65 value for $49. And that's $65 retail... so not enough discount for me.

It would be fun to get something in the mail, tho... but I guess it should be something I have chosen myself. Will just keep shopping sales online.

SusieQOH 05-15-2019 04:21 AM

I get the Sew Sampler and have been really happy with it. It's fun to get a box of goodies each month.

I called CS and was told free shipping for all boxes in the US. If I renew and charged shipping for future boxes I will cancel because it's not up front about that on the sign up page.

Jannie 05-15-2019 06:21 PM

It would be fun to get a surprise in the mail each month, but I really don't need any more fabric or gadgets. Let us know what you think when you get your box.

linmid 05-16-2019 08:22 AM

I would be interested in seeing what they ship too.

Onebyone 06-03-2019 02:40 PM

I got confirmation my box has shipped. I'll post pictures of the contents when it arrives. Crossing my fingers it's something I will love. LOL

I have been given a 3 month subscription to Quilty and purchased Sew Sampler. My issue is when they give you the value they always include $10 for the pattern they send which isn’t one I would ever purchase. They also value the fabric and tools at very high retail cost. I loved getting a treat in the mail but I didn’t get enough value for my money.

fruitloop 06-05-2019 09:15 AM

I have checked the price of items in my Sew Sampler box at three different quilt shops. If not on sale the price is the same in each shop. I don't get the boxes to save money on quilting items though.

Onebyone 06-08-2019 06:42 AM

The Connecting Threads box hasn't arrived yet. Apparently not using priority mail. This is a big mark against them for me. The box has to great to make up for that. To renew for the next month is only two days away and if the box hasn't arrived before the deadline to get another one then that is awful customer service and I won't be renewing no matter how great it is. For quilting things I can get anywhere, one chance is all any shop gets to get my money.

Right. Not many understand that isn't the point of the boxes.

SusieQOH 06-08-2019 06:47 AM

Wow, that is slow shipping!

KalamaQuilts 06-08-2019 11:27 AM

you didn't get tracking with a shipping notice? A few weeks ago I had a priority box held in Nevada for 8 days, just sitting there, between North Carolina and Washington. Not something to blame the vendor for.

moonrise 06-08-2019 11:46 AM

Some companies are using "Smart Post". The package is transported by Fed Ex ... apparently in a very, very, very leisurely fashion ... to your local post office, and then the post office delivers it along with the regular mail. It's not unusual for "Smart Post" packages to take 2 weeks to get to me. Ugh. Maybe it should be called "Snail Post"!

I think (but am not 100% sure) that CT has shipped packages to me via "Smart Post" in the past, but it's been awhile since I ordered from them and I can't remember for sure.

Have they sent a tracking number?

Onebyone 06-09-2019 08:48 AM

I didn't get a tracking number or carrier info, only confirmation it was sent.

fruitloop 06-09-2019 11:33 AM

I haven't received my box either and no tracking number. Not good customer service to have to renew before I get the first box to see if I like it or not. If not here tomorrow then I'm not renewing. That is the deadline to renew.

fruitloop 06-10-2019 07:20 AM

I called CS and was given a tracking number. She said it is on the order but I had to go to my account, look up the order invoice with transaction number to get the tracking info. My box was mailed June 3 and will not be delivered until June 11. That means I'd have to renew before seeing the first box. No thanks. I cancelled to not receive anymore boxes.

Onebyone 06-11-2019 11:23 AM

I got the box today. The box contained:

10 spool set of Essential Cotton Thread, Bejeweled.
15 very pretty fat quarters from the Color Wheel Solids collection (the deep colors set)
1 pack of 5 rotary blades
1 quilt pattern, Move Star by Villa Rosa Designs
I like the box it came in too. Good storage box.

The items in the box can be bought on sale for over $60 not counting the pattern, so the value is there and even more so when the sale ends. I just don't need basic stash products. I want to try the new things.

NZquilter 06-11-2019 01:59 PM

Sounds like a fairly decent surprise box, Onebyone. Maybe in a few months I'll sign up. Heavens knows I can always use FQs and thread! :D

MaryBL 07-12-2019 07:21 AM

I signed up. The first box was great, so on June 10 I signed up for the 3-month discount price. Got an email saying my second box was on the way & charge was $49, not the discount price. Second box arrived, July card enclosed but thread & fabric was NOT what was indicated on the card. Ugly selection of greys, black & white, cheap needle threader and small bottle of soap. I called to ask why I was charged the regular price, was told I missed the cut off date of June 12! I could’ve forgiven that if the box contained the correct fabric which, on the July card looked nice, but all in all it left a bad taste in my mouth & I canceled.

I've ordered from Connecting Threads twice and both time the shipping was terrible.
It took almost 2 weeks to get my order! One time they didn't even ship it for 5 days after I placed it.
In this day and age, that is terrible. Their office is in Washington state I believe, and they must have fulfillment center in the East, like in Kentucky, but my package was mailed from North Carolina......or something strange like that. Like they literally drove to another state to mail it to me. And their fabric was pretty thin my opinion. I won't be shopping there again. I agree with Onebyone..."one chance is all any shop gets to get my money." Even though I gave them 2....I won't be back!

KalamaQuilts 07-12-2019 11:52 AM

if you are getting free shipping, that doesn't mean instant shipping nor does it necessarily mean priority shipping. As noted above Smart Post is a shipping option for them. Not excusing the poor product, but when we ask for free, free is what we get.

Curious, on your invoice is there fine print shipping estimations and did the extra time to get shipped cover a holiday? thank you for sharing your experience!

Onebyone 07-12-2019 12:33 PM

I ordered a book from CT ten days ago and it still hasn't arrived. I'm in no hurry for the book and know it will get here at some point. I agree that in this time of fast shipping, long delays are frustrating.

NZquilter 07-12-2019 02:13 PM

I like CT fabric quality and thread. I don't often buy fabric online, but when I do, it's generally from them. Their slow shipping issues must be kind of recent? Thanks for the heads up. I ordered some fabric to finish my daughter's quilt yesterday. Now I know not to expect it for at least two weeks. :D Let's hope CT will iron out their shipping issues soon, like how MSQC ironed out theirs a couple of years back.

fruitloop 07-17-2019 03:26 PM

I received an order from CT today, ordered 11 days ago. That is too slow to keep customers happy. I think it is the order fulfillment dept that is the problem. It takes too long to get the order ready to ship.
