Yikes! A little pricey for my pocketbook.

Goodness where does everyone shop the first price they find? I would never pay that much over wholesale. They are $18 on sale for $14 here: https://quiltybox.com/shop/product/1791679416

I always prewash my fabrics and use the bobbins as top thread when zig-zagging the edges of my fabric before washing. Great way to use up all my bobbin thread. Also, use bobbin thread when piecing. I always put the bobbin on the up right spool pin with a felt pad underneath to keep the bobbin from spinning out of control. I make the circle felt pads out of left over batting and cut a small hole in the center (not perfect but they work).

Yes, I have done that.

I have used a bobbin as top thread a few times, but only if the color I really want is already on a bobbin. Have you ever run out of thread from the top thread? It's a real mess.

If you run out of thread in the bobbin where it belongs, it's just the end. Put in a new bobbin and you're good to go.

If you run out of top thread while sewing, it's a mess and you have to untangle it and get rid of all that excess thread mucking up your seam.

Cool idea. I normally use less than half filled bobbins for basting along the edges of my quilt instead of using the bobbin thread that will be used in the quilting process. I also use it for hemming the binding if its the correct color. One thing I don't do is pull it off and throw it away. Too costly these days.

Ok sorry ladies, I missed the "wonky" part. Thanks for the kindness!

Running out of top thread doesn't mess up like that with me on any of my machines. I noticed I was low on top thread yesterday and kept sewing until it ran out. No mess happened. Maybe it's the type of machine.

That is a much better price, but you still need to add $5 for shipping. Still a better deal than other sites. I have used bobbins as a top thread like when using a double needle now I'm trying to decide if I should get one!
