Aggi, so good to hear from you. I was just thinking of you this AM hoping everything was okay. Use to hearing from you every day! Oh and your trip to Cuba, bring back some postcards and pics to post for us to see! Especially get someone to take pics of you two on the beach or something. I know you are going to have a great time. Like I said I am from Miami and one thing I know is the Cubans know how to party!!!!!! Have a doctors appointment today so have to get ready. Then I will come home and back to sewing. Have a Great Day all!

Aggi and DonnaRae-
Count me in too! I decided that it wasn't possible to take on the RR right now. I would like to do one later in the year when some of my other projects are finished.

How long is this OC going to take? Anyone know?
It is my first mystery. It's kind of fun not knowing what is next : )

mary705 04-22-2008 04:28 PM

Not sure 2 Doods. The first clue was given on the 1st and the 2nd was either the 15th or 16th. So, 2 weeks apart are the clues anyway.

I have no idea how long this mystery will take. I'm not in a big hurry myself as I am doing the steps in between other projects. DonnaRae, did Bonnie say how long this quilt will take??

ProArtQuiltersUnite 04-22-2008 08:03 PM

I just found this, Love it, Is it done regular Like the BOM thing??? I don't know, I'm just going with the flow.

DonnaRae 04-22-2008 08:13 PM

If I recall Bonnie said it will take us through Spring and into Summer. That really is not that long considering BOMs are eight months to a year.

ProArtQuiltersUnite, No this is not something we do on a regular basics although we may. We just found the BOM and it was just starting so we thought what a fun idea. So join in, Step two just started so you have plenty of time to catch up. We all have been haveing a lot of fun. And by the way Hello, and nice to meet you! :D

mary705 04-23-2008 01:06 AM

And I want to say welcome also

Quilting Aggi 04-23-2008 02:50 AM

Hi ProArtQuilter!!! Welcome to the crew!!! There are some wonderful friends to be made here and the inspiration I get from these talented men and women will knock your socks off!!

I meant to take a photo of my Step #2 blocks last night but I got sooo caught up making a bunch of other blocks I got lost in the moment and by the time I looked up it was after 10:30!!! by the time I put everything away and ironed a pair of pants and shirt for work the next day I was zonked!!! Soon!

PamH 04-23-2008 05:38 AM

Well I finally got all of my triangles made and now working on the 2 inch squares, in step 2. Hope to get to start on sewing the blocks tonight.
i like the fact she gives you plenty of time between the steps, so you can work on other projects in between. That would be cool if we could get mystery quilts as an on going project, like the BOM.

How is everyone else coming along?

mary705 04-23-2008 06:05 AM

I'm waiting on the next step, so I'm doing another scrap quilt, Boxy Stars.

Quilting Aggi 04-23-2008 06:22 AM

Pam I'll all set and ready for Step #3 :)

PamH 04-23-2008 06:24 AM

Chele 04-24-2008 01:49 PM

Looking scraptacular, Donna Rae! Now we wait. I'm kind of glad since my good machine is in the shop!

DonnaRae 04-24-2008 02:11 PM

When did your good machine go in the shop? Before of after step one and two?

DonnaRae 04-24-2008 02:12 PM

Oh and thanks everyone!

Chele 04-24-2008 04:45 PM

After step two, DonnaRae. I'm going to wait until it's back in service to start step three. I'm not so good on the old machine! :D

mary705 04-25-2008 12:54 AM

DonnaRae 04-25-2008 11:40 AM

Aggi, Have a GREAT vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 Doods 04-25-2008 04:20 PM

I have yet to start step 2. Loving all the pictures of what all of you have accomplished! I had to work extra this week-It seriously cut into MY time. Trying to get to step 2 this weekend but there is a quilt show I want to go to.... I need longer days. lol

mary705 04-26-2008 01:15 AM

You will get there 2 Doods. I think we all need longer days!

PamH 04-27-2008 05:42 PM

I just saw that step 3 is posted :!:

I still have to finish step 2.

DonnaRae 04-27-2008 07:12 PM

OMG, step 3 is already posted? Wow that is fast. I am going there now to check it. I just finished step 2 except for cutting of all the little tails or whatever you call those little wings that stick out.

DonnaRae 04-27-2008 07:32 PM

Well I just saw the next step. Thanks Pam for the heads up. I would never have looked to see this soon! Well we have more triangles to cut and sew. Part of the step calls for a companion angle which I don't have but a have another ruler that is a lot like it that I think I might be able to use. The triangle has to be the same size as the two small angles when they are put together. I think you could even just make a template instead of cutting squares and then cutting the squares diagonally. It is easier with a strip to cut once! I am going to try tomorrow morning and see. If it works I will write better directions then this gibberish. I am tired. Bed time... Night all..... :D

mary705 04-28-2008 12:48 AM

I just saw my email about step 3, haven't read it yet, but I have a companion angle.

Knot Sew 04-28-2008 04:02 AM

Ok I am officialy behind. I am about one third of the way through step 2 :? :D

OMG more triangles.........crumbs are looking better and better

PamH 04-28-2008 04:20 AM

I won't get much sewing done this week. I got a call yesterday that my boss and friend, she's 41, had a heart attack. So I will be putting in more hours this week at the newspaper. All I want is her to have a full recovery, so my sewing can wait, it will be there when i get back to it.

DonnaRae 04-28-2008 06:00 AM

Well you got that right Pam. There are only a few things more important then sewing/quilting and that for sure is one of them! Hope she does good and gets better quickly.

Don't worry Ruth, I was behind you all at one point. I did not even have my first step done. But one day eveything just went well and I got all caught up.

Lucky you Mary has the ruler. I still have not tested my ruler or to see if I can make a template but I am sure a template can be made. All you have to do is measure the finished step of sewing the two smaller angles together. Then make your strips and use the template to cut. I will try it. Pretty sure though my ruler is just like the companion angle just a different company, Omnigrid.

DonnaRae 04-28-2008 06:30 AM

I was checking out the clearance at this quilt shop and they have a kit to learn quilting for $ 4.50 It includes the companion ruler. Anyone that wants the ruler should check it out. I can't imagine you would find it for much cheaper. Well maybe you can, I have not checked. But here is the addy,

Scroll down to the bottom of the clearance items.

mary705 04-28-2008 07:55 AM

I know that when I bought my specialty rulers they were either on sale for 50% off, or I had a 40% or 50% off coupon.

Will have to try the link later, just to check out the site. Won't load for me right now.

mary705 04-28-2008 07:57 AM

Never mind, just loaded up. lol

mary705 04-28-2008 07:59 AM

That is actually a good price, since it comes with the pattern and fabric marker.

rubymae 04-28-2008 11:03 AM

Its going to be fun to see how everyone's interpetation turns out. I dont normally like mysteries cuz I need to 'see' what I am picking the fabric/colors for....I am joining this one, mainly because I loved the title (my favorite soda as a kid).

I started out with one group of fabrics and then read they should be TOT/blenders...of well!! I wanted to do oranges/rusts but couldnt find anything that 'turned me on'...so I going with a brown/cream monocromatic scheme

rubymae 04-28-2008 11:06 AM

thanks, Pam...I am leaving for a 4 day quilting frenzy at my sister's on Wednesday and am taking this with me...maybe I will post my progress when I get home

DonnaRae 04-28-2008 11:09 AM

Actually it is with scrappy colors untill futher along steps and even then Bonnie said it can be scrappy. Hmmm, I do however like the orange rust idea, and I have some fabric perfect. The question is what fabric to go with it. That step further along, you have too have at least four different colors. I will have to think on this one!
