Yikes! That is scary!
Also, don't stick needles in a mattress or the cushion of a couch. When you stand up, they get pulled in and eaten. Our bed has a few needles inside the mattress. I kept thinking I was absent minded and had lost them until I figured out what was happening. LOL Hopefully no one will find one the hard way.

At a very young age (around 2-3 years old) I swallowed two straight pins. My Mother always sewed and made quilts and I had seen her put pins in her mouth from birth. Fortunately, we were at a very elderly ladies home when it happened and she grabbed me up, carried me into the kitchen, got a biscuit and made me eat it on the way to the hospital. After x-rays, it showed one pin up and one down. The biscuit had formed around the pins and helped them pass without any harm. I was old enough to know and remember the pain when I swallowed them. To this day, when I see someone with pins in their mouth, I just about have a hissy fit! I have even told strangers to please take them out of their mouths as I try to prevent a panic attack. So, I can truly say, I have never put a pin in my mouth since that horrible day. And now to know how nasty they are!

Pin incident, what a reminder.

OMG sounds like a horror sci-fi movie.....

I do this all the time. I've tried to break myself of the habit but before I know it the pins are back there. Anyone else have that problem or know of a way to kick the pin-in-mouth habit?

Thanks for sharing this - I will never put a pin in my mouth again!

I don't see the reason for putting a pin in my mouth at all. I see some break thread with their teeth and I don't understand the reason for that either.

WOW, this is a great thread this morning. I myself have put a pin or two in my mouth--NOT NO MORE--

And no more licking an envelope to seal it. Yucky poo.

Thanks, ladies.

OMG, thanks for the article. I often put pins in my mouth, even though I know I shouldn't.
