If your machine spins, jerks, or pops the bobbin used as top thread, try using a tool called the Bobbinator. It is made to use bobbins for top thread. Cool notion.

Pretty clever idea. I also like quilterpurpledog's idea of marking a spot on the bobbin. Of course, that would mean I'd need to see the mark.

Now, that is a good idea. I once sewed a whole WOF seam without thread because for some reason my machine did not beep.
