Nancy Zieman's annoucement of bone cancer
Nancy sent out a note to those who subscribe to her blog this morning that she was diagnosed with bone cancer and she was cancelling her appearances and have quest host for her show, until the middle of next year.
The doctors removed the tumor on her left leg and she says she has a partially bionic leg. So sad. I pray that she will recover and continue her wonderful life. She has brought so much joy and knowledge to all of us over the years and has been such an inspiration to all. She is the reason that I sew and quilt. From her first show, I have never missed a program....and I feel like I own half of her Nancy's Notions business. I thought everyone would like to hear the sad news and wish her well. |
Yes, she is a wonderful sewer who has a lot of courage to brave the illness she has suffered from. We all say a prayer that she will be able to recover.
How sad, but she seems to be doing well. I'm sure she knows how loved she is and how many prayers are being said on her behalf. I have watched her shows since I was a teenager and learned something each time.
Thanks for the update. She sure has been bombarded with various illnesses. Hope she is able to beat this one down too.
So sad to hear this. She is a wonderful lady and has taught so many so much. Sayin prayers for a quick and complete recovery.
she is such a wonderful person, always helping others and she has taught a lot of us many quilting techniques.
She always made a new technique seem so easy that anyone would attempt to do the designs she showed. I wish her a speedy recovery and hope she will continue to teach her techniques to all. |
Yes, this was sad to watch on the video. I follow her blog and the news just came in on email this morning. I admire her courage.
She is a most remarkable woman. I've watched her shows for years and been inspired. All the best to you, Nancy, for a speedy recovery. I look forward to spending many more years with you.
wishing her a speedy recovery. we'll all miss her on her shows for now. but hope she comes back next year.
So sad. She will beat this disease! I'm sure that others will join with me in praying for her and her family. She was on here once in answer to a question from another member, she was so helpful and she took the time to respond to some of us. I was so lucky to have had this experience.
I am always sad to hear someone has a cancer diagnosis. Bone cancer is very painful. I hope it was caught in time for a full and speedy recovery.
Sending prayers her way to help her and her family get through this horrible ordeal. I was thinking how long I've been watching her shows on PBS. Ever since 2006. That's when I quit the beauty business. I have Saturdays off often and can catch the PBS quilting and sewing shows from 9 am-12 pm. Her shows are so informative.
Thanks for letting us know, we love her dearly and well pray for her and her family

Have you seen Nancy Zieman's latest blog?
Just saw it yesterday. She had osteosarcoma, bone cancer. She said she has a partially bionic right leg now. She'll be taking time off from her show and speaking engagements to concentrate on healing and therapy. She looks wonderful, and she gave a very uplifting and positive speech. I do hope she will be OK. She has meant so much to so many people in quilting, machine embroidery and general sewing for so many years. She has always seemed like such a pure, genuine person. I really hope she will be OK and have many more wonderful years ahead of her.
I saw it too. I hope she does well and her life can get back to normal. She is a very warm person. I would love to meet her someday.
Thank you for passing that along, I hadn't heard. That is so sad! Hopefully she will heal and share her talents for many more years!
I had the good fortune to attend Sewing Weekend in Beaver Dam today. There was a very LARGE card on the wall and many were writing good wishes, as did I.
she is in my prays. I enjoyed reading her book. she is a real hero. She did so much for the world of sewing.
Some months ago she had Mary Mulari guest host her show due to an illness--now we know what was happening. She still has her great sense of commitment and great attitude. Would love to meet her someday but don't think that ill happen. I just watch her show every Saturday on our local PBS channel. My prayers go out to her and her family.
I also did not know this. Just received an order from "NANCY's Notions".I don't know of all her other ailments but she's got an excellent outlook. Wish her all the best.
How to find her blog, please? I am so sorry to hear this, she is so nice, and promotes sewing for handicapped and needy people.
