A new treadle machine?
I've never seen this before, so maybe I just haven't been paying attention, but I found it interesting that Janome is making a treadle powered machine. You have to have your own treadle for it ... http://content.janome.com/index.cfm/...Specialty/712T
Just thought I'd share it ... |
Now that is interesting. I would never hear the end of it if i had one of those. The joke around my house is that i am a "crazy prepper." I like to stock pile items when they are on sale and i do a lot of canning in the summer. I think old fashioned and electric free is awesome. I like the way it is worded, "true Do It Yourself ethic." Every time i get teased i will quote that. :)

Janome have done modern treadles for sometime.
Not far from me are many Amish and Mennonite families. I'm sure they are delighted that they have this modern option. |

LOL, but the next time there's a wide spread electrical failure, you'd be the only one in business |

Fantastic. Wonderful for 3rd world countries that do not have reliable electricity.

This model has been available for several years. When I looked into it (lots of power failures), it was just the head. You had to supply the treadle mechanism yourself.

I think Bernina has a treadle option as well - or some of their machines could be converted - with the Amish in mind.
Cheers, K |
our faith group bought new treadle sewing machines for 150.00 per machine in Africa for African women to use to support their families.

When I lived in Egypt in the Nile Delta, the hospital I worked in had only a treadle machine to use. I am very grateful for electricity every time I turn on my Bernina.
