Pinterest

I have just discovered 'Pinterest', it is a website people were raving about on my Janome board and it is fabulous. Complete time waster, between that and this board I will never get anything done. It's a fascinating site. Google it.

I love pinterest more than would be considered normal. A total time vampire!
However, it's like my master "bookmark" for quilt ideas I have. I have a board of just quilts and I love knowing that once I pin something, I can get right back to it in a click or two.

If anyone needs/wants an invite, PM me your e-mail address and I will send one!

I can live without it. This board steels enough of my time. No complaints, I love it. So much to learn and so many people that share.

As with anything, balance is needed, and Pinterest is no exception ... everything in moderation. But yes, set a timer somewhere because Pinterest will consume your time if you let it! Pinterest has wonderful quilt ideas (along with everything else you can think of), and it leads you to the root of the product ... tutorials, directions, where to find it, etc.

Love the site, not sure I am pinning correctly, but I like to cruise thru there

cherokeerose 12-24-2011 08:34 AM

Love the site, a wonderful way to keep all my "want to's", "will do's" in one place.

It took me a while to figure out how to pin things, but, once I did...LOOK OUT! And, I notice some of the features on the site don't always work properly. I follow pinterest on Facebook (weird, right?) because they post when they are having technical problems or if they are doing an update that causes pins not to stick.

Never could get into face book, BUT Pinterest---WOW what a site. I hit the wrong button a while ago and got off it by mistake. Realized I have been on there to long. So I used up my time today, unfortunatley life interrupted and got other sites to see.

I am one serious Pinterest fan. I love having aplace to keep all the links I'm interested in all in one place, and see a photo. Much more convenient than having bookmarks, where I have to click on each one to find what I'm looking for.

Another great way to use it: My DD, who lives several hours away, is getting married next summer. When I see something she might like, I post it to a board for her. She "follows" my board, and reposts what she likes to a new board that we both share. Now I know what she liked, and didn't.

My quilting board is a great place to store all those "wanna do's".

I just recently heard of this site - a friend had a link to it....I didn't really know what it was other than a bunch of pictures. I guess I'll have to go take another gander at it.

My daughter loves this and sent me an invite but since I don't do facebook or twitter, I cannot join it. Maybe that is a good thing as she says it is addictive.

MaryMo 12-25-2011 05:05 PM

I love pinterest for its many ideas and inspirations.

Teddybear Lady 12-25-2011 05:54 PM

My brother told me about Pinterest. Yes, I love it! So many things to look at...like a kid in a candy store. haha

traumaRN 12-25-2011 06:24 PM

I have come across so many great ideas on that site! It's great for marking sites you want to go back through. So many creative people out there.

frugalfabrics 12-26-2011 05:08 PM

do you have to join to get the full affect of it? I go to the site to look at picutres all the time, but I'm not a member.

I don't really remember trying to use it before I joined. But, I think if you just like looking at other people's pins, it's fine to not join. However, I pin things directly from blogs/sites so that I can keep them as a visual bookmark. Then, when I want to make something that I have pinned, I can find it and get right back to the site I pinned it from.

3incollege 12-27-2011 05:50 PM

I tried to join awhile ago and I'm on a waiting list to join!

frugalfabrics 12-28-2011 03:52 PM

thanks for the add *feffertim* - I signed in, but didn't have time to really look at it. I'll have to go back in later.

I joined without linking my FB account. I think there's still a way to join w/out linking a FB or Twitter account.

rubia, Do you remember how you joined without FB or twitter? I have not been able to find a way. I did email them today so I will see if I get a reply.

Oh good. Might be a good site to go for stimulating the brain when it is in a funk. I will PM you.
