When I redid my kitchen, I used the old cabinets to do the same thing. Gave me closed storage & drawers!

What a great idea - I passed on a sewing table counter height for a small desk due to the cost ($75 vs $3,000 - I don't have cheap taste unfortunately) - however, this would be perfect. Glad I waited.

Thank you tesspug for posting this. It is exactly what I want for my new quilting room. Just hope that size will fit. I have bookmarked that site. Once again thank you.

I wish I had seen that before we made mine.

I have 2 bookdcases with a hollow core door on the top of it for my cutting table. It is THE perfect height (for me anyway... I'm only 5', but...). I love it! My DH also tacked a yardstick along one long edge so I have that to measure with. It wasn't expensive to make & was all together in an afternoon (the bookshelves are just cheapies from WalMart so they had to be assembled).

Ask him to go with you, to get the stuff. Then start working on it, yourself. It's like opening the hood of a car and looking at the engine. Men tend to just flock around, to play . . . uh, I mean help. :D
