Reducing seam bulk tip, trick
I was reading the article, "Mastering the Narrow Hemmer"
(http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/...mer-part-three ), in part 3, and found this nifty trick. I think I'll be using this quite a bit; not just for narrow hemming. Hope you find it helpful. ~Jo
To cross a seam, trim to reduce the bulk of seam allowances; use a glue stick to keep the seam allowances flat during hemming

When I have to piece my backings, I use Elmer's Glue to tack down the seam pressing it down with the iron. This way I know it won't get fluffed up while advancing the quilt sandwich during quilting. I wash all my quilts afterwards before giving to the recipent. I used one of my quilts just the other day to keep warm and found for some reason I hadn't washed it yet but didn't notice any stiffness from the glue as I also use it to attach the binding during the stitching process.

Did you see the tip for using a grocery plastic bag for sewing over fabric that likes to grab the feed dogs or presser foot? The tip recommends an easily see thru bag, she said it tears off easily. I have not tried it, but think that I will give it a try.
