Similar technique with shaving cream came out a few years ago - difference was you used Rit dye and microwaved the fabric to set the colors. Worked very well, just had the smell of menthol in the kitchen for quite a while!!

I was at the Long Beach Quilters Show yesterday and someone was demonstrating this technique. He used inks and shaving cream. I bought his "kit" some ink, stencils, tray, paint pins, etc. I have used this in the past to color paper when crafting with kids. The demonstrator recommended heat setting with an iron before washing out the cream. Otherwise the ink will fade.

wow that is neat looking , thank you

i do have a question ? do you heat set it with the iron while the shaving cream is still wet or do you wait for it to dry ?
will it gunk up my iron ?

That is neat - and the video also led me to other neat, similar style videos. Love it - something to try that looks like it could clean up very easy as well as not costing an arm and a leg. Thank you.
