Default Ugly duckling is a swan!

In a previous post I mentioned why did I buy that fabric. Well last night I started working on my Diamonds Squared pattern from MSQC. Started cutting/sewing my jelly rolls and realized combos were rather dull. Had a ah huh moment. Dug out the uglies, auditioned them with the dulls and they all turned into pretties...everything getting better in my creative chaos! Don't you love the magic of color?

Good for your. A silver lining to a dark cloud is what this idea sounds like

That has happened to me, too. I add a fabric that I think is ugly - it sort of adds something - I take it out - and it needs to be added back.

Color is the most important element for me, then pattern.

Now that I have more time to sit and sew I am finding the same things. Those not so pretty fabrics can really work well in the right spot.

What is said at my quilting guild is (if you cut it up small enough, it won't be ugly fabric any more). Please show us what you did.

I do! I love color, Julie. I've had that happen. I used to pass by ugly fabric until I did a lot of reading on Bonnie Hunter's site. When she said that if you have ugly fabric it just means you haven't cut it into small enough pieces yet, the lightbulb went off. I made a jacket with log cabins set on point and it was awesome what the ugly fabric looked like in the small log cabin blocks! I don't pass by fabrics because I dont' like them anymore. I just look at the color and go from there.
