Embroidery Machines Lets Chat & Have Fun

Hi,

If you have an embroidery machine please chat with us so we can help learn from each other. Please post what machines you have and what projects you are making. We would love to see pictures of your projects

This will be fun.

I have a Janome 10000 which I haven't started using yet so want to get it out and start learning to use it.

it reads just about every one of them.

XXX, PES, HUS, ART, etc.

the only thing you have to watch for is JEF - the newer models do and the older models don't

if you go to the futura website you can read all about it

I have two brothers, the 8500 and the PR620, I have been doing it for close to 16 years and do everything under the sun with them, I have the pedesign 7 program so that I can do my own designs but have a collection from the www.emblibrary.com site, it is a favorite of mine as a lot of my friends can attest to.

I have a Viking SE LE. Currently I am embroidering quilting designs on solids with batting and backing using variegated thread. They are cut into 8-1/2" squares and serged together like a rag quilt. Fun & Done!

Our embroidery group "Magic Machines" is starting the Summer Wine quilt by Jenny Haskins this month. I have already embroidered the first block.

I have a Janome 350E, just got it last October and haven't dont a whole lot on it yet. I just finished a hummingbird quilt that's on another thread. My DH got me magnahoops for Christmas, so now I can try to put something on the pashima scarves I found. I'm still looking around to see what editing software I want to use.

I have a Baby Lock Elegance 2. Haven't been able to do much since Thanksgiving. My mom had Hemorrhagic Stroke (brain bleed) and has been in the hospital ever since. Hope to get back to it soon though. A chat about embroidery would be awesome.

I have a Bernina 630. I have really only used it for making my quilt labels. I have not taken the time to get all the software figured out to be able to play with the embroidery. When I got the machine, the em unit was not why I bought it. Eventually I want to learn how to do more with it.

Hi, I have a brother SD270 disney embroidery machine.
Is the PED basic easy to use with your machine? I was thinking of getting this because of price so I am hoping it will be all I need. The PED7 sounds great but I don't want to spend that much. I try sewing while I am babysitting my grandkids and it is a challenge That is why I love to embroider I can walk away except when my granddaughter decides to turn off the machine Haha

I had a Babylock Ellageo for many years and recently sold that one and purchased a used Pfaff 2170. I did many embroidery projects with the old machine so I purchased on ebay one of those embroidery thread assortments. The old machine would stitch with anything. :D .

I bought 3D Software (and got the free upgrade to 4D). Loved to software and decided to upgrade the machine to something that could interface with the computer. Love the new machine - but have found that it is very particular about thread (much like the Vikings which I sold). So much for all that thread.

Ok, I have a question for all you embroidery experts out there. What kind of stabilizer would I use with this? It's 100% rayon, texture and drape mimics pashima silk. If possible, I'd like to have a double sided design on the ends. Theorys, suggestions??

Up North 01-03-2010 07:36 AM

I am working on one right now with slippery fabric I am doing it in the fun and done method and used iron on batting, I sure hope it softens in the wash. It holds well for the machine tho. I would at least use an iron on interfacing. My personal experience maybe some one else has a better idea.

I have the PED basic and it does everything I need, downloading designs, storing and resizing...I didn't want to spend the big price either.

The PED basic works great. I have downloaded free Wilcom (I think that's how it is spelled) and can change to a different format, change stich density, change size. There are tons of free patterns on the net.

For the scarf I would use the sticky stabilizer especially since you want it to look good on both sides. If you use iron on it would be hard to get the extra off when you are done. I would pick an open line design. Some of these fabrics don't do the fill very well no matter what you do. If you don't use the stick I would be tempted to use a disolve one. My mom has the feature that she can baste the outside of the design and I would use it to help keep it from moving. The disolve one would make it easier to remove it afterwards and open up some other design possibilities.

Hi, I have the Janome 11,000. Had the 9,000 for 13 yrs, but wanted to be able to do larger designs. I use the Customizer that comes with it for sizing, downloading, etc. It is so much fun, I use it nearly every day. I will take a pic of the shirt I made DH for Christmas and get it on here soon. I like to do pants legs and shirts and quilt blocks. Also love the free standing lace, Embroidery.com has great lace Christmas ornaments. They are so nice to slip in with Christmas cards.

Hi, I have the Janome 10001 and before that I had (still do) the Janome 9000 I have embroidered many things. But with the 10001 I can download designs off the computor and make a bigger design. I also have the card reader so I can use my memory cards from the 9000 on this newer machine. I can do t-shirts, sweatshirts, quilt blocks, jackets, hats, towels you name it. My kids and grands are always requesting an emb. design of some kind. being retired I sew almost everyday.

adriansmom 01-03-2010 05:20 PM

I have a Bernina 180E and she can be quite the diva. I want a new machine, I relly like ihe new vikings. oh well, can only dream for now.

Does the shop you bought the machine give free lessons? If they do you should take those. The Bernina instructions are not very clear if you haven't used an embroidery machine. I had the Babylock first so was familiar with what I had to do. If you can't take classes and want to dive in on your own you can pm me if you like and I will try to walk you through it.

brushandthimble 01-03-2010 08:35 PM

I have the Brother 4000D, and have not learned how to use it. I bought it about 3 years ago at a good price, and have just started piecing with it. One of my goals for this year is to learn how to do embroidery. This might just be the group to motive me:)

4dogs 01-03-2010 08:49 PM

thanks so much for you offer to help.......they do have the classes, and I sat through one, but it was a little while back, so I gotta go and sit through another one....and then, I really might ask for your help, if you dont mind......wish you were close enough I could just run over to your house...thanks so much!!
