This first panel has 4 over lays of full applique that covers all the square and has 66K stitches 22 color changes

Getting along to second tile ,I have had some problems with the conversion from Floriani to Janome colors. The trouble is Floriani has about twenty reds and all it's other colors are that close in shade, that the conversion is randomly picking different numbers in each different window I open, and there is twenty tiles to contend with color wise .I've had to open 2 computers to keep and eye on whats going on .A typical change is in the sky ,on the sky in the first tile it used Janome -Pale Sky #216 and Bright Blue #230 and on the second tile it wanted to use Janome Baby blue 228 and Solar Blue 268 this is not good as these two tiles join together and the difference would be very noticeable and look terrible I have two Floriani to Janome thread conversions and both are contentious in the number substitutions.I guess I will have to wing it along I am thinking that this design was created in Floriani software and therefore not easy to convert. I have the same problems with African Savanna Sunset's it came with Floriani color program. Had to reprogram all the colors, takes probably a day of time that I could be embroidering.

Quiltah Mama 09-20-2023 02:08 AM

Wow, that is going to be gorgeous when done. I can see in the picture how I vibrant the colors are. Can't wait to see the finish.

Hi The software I use for editing SewWhat Pro64 (Sandscomputing) has just programed a multi window tile so I can have as many tiles open at one time as I like .Ask and yea will receive.Told them about the problem I was having with color choice programing and the next day got an email saying they had included a multi choice horizontal or vertical tile in the windows tab .All I can say is hat's off to them for there prompt service, been using this software for years now , it will do anything but digitize, I have Hach2 for that.

If you do a lot of embroidery that was created in Floriani colors and you have the Janome colors, you could get a thread chart for each of the brands made with real thread. That way you can pick the one that is closest. I used a lot of RA rayon when I first started embroidery and still have most of the colors. The thread chart really does come in handy but they are expensive and not always in stock.

Hi sewingpup Thank you for the suggestion but as I said previously, I have two different Floriani to Janome conversions and they conflict with each other .Having the capability to open two file page tiles on the one page has solved most of my problems at the present time,I can correct on the fly as I'm proceeding through project.A lot of the extra colors is mostly shading which I don't think is necessary. I do have a 300 color Kit but I just prefer to use the Janome accredited colors ,they color the projects to my satisfaction and they always look fantastic when finished. This project calls for 72 Floriani colors and Janome only calls for 53 colors to do nearly the same job.The finish product will look just as photogenic whether done in either thread
The pic's are off my 300 set and the ones in 3 boxes are original Janome colors.I use as a color match source,I have never used them. I use New brotherthread Janome set for my normal embroidery, never had a problem with their quality or dye lots.

This had 5 applique's ,two of them cover the whole tile, mainly sky and the ship and 66K stitches , the next one is the other half off the ship and rainbow curving to the horizon .These tiles are taking a couple of hours each to complete ,slow going as the machine just wants to puddle along with all the 49 changes

Fizzle 09-23-2023 04:02 AM

Wow. You have a lot of patience. I dont think i would be able to create something that intricate. It is amazing and will be beautiful. Have fun!

That’s a beautiful project!

Hi Tile #4 This has 74000 stitches,58 color changes and 5 applique panels,it has been in the machine for about 3 1/2 hours to complete.I usually pass my time listening to pod cast interviews or fabulous DooWop music classics ,they trend to last an hour or more.Have clipped #3 to #4 to show how they are progressing. There is still one to go in this row.

This is tile #5 and is the bustiest tile with 8 appliques and 80K stitches and over 60 color changes ,it's taken about 6-7 hours to complete this one and they are only 8"x8" tile. I didn't do in one sitting to much eye strain. Still have another 15 to go Unhappy

Tile #6 This has been another block buster with 9 applique overlays and 75K stitches 61 color changes .This took about 7 hrs to complete and I did in 3 sittings as it tends to give me eye strain with the amount of reflection, the intense light from the LED's from the piece, also I have a back problem so I cant sit all day at the machine, although I have a very comfy chair. I'm still having small discrepancy's with color conversion from Floriani to Janome which I have to constantly keep an eye on.There are 20 tiles in this wall hanging and at this rate I will have to take a vacation when is finished!!

Tile #7 There is not as many stitches in one but it was still time consuming as I think the the whole project piece is going to be..I have 3 projects including this one, they have 80k-90k stitches and 6-8 applique lay overs per tile .They are 2. Moses sharing the ten commandments and 3. Moses hold back the Red sea for the people to pass across. These are all Anitia Goodesign and its called Exodus. special edition. All of theses are wall hanging and will follow up on them when this one get finished. The definition in these tiles is significant and I really like the way the creator of these tiles has gone all out to produce something with 2D depth .I can understand the price of these ($160) per projects as the skill to produce these files would take many hours of thought and prep layout and then digitizing to stitches, massive job.

Moving along to tile #8, I got through this one fairly quickly as it has 6 appliques overlay 70K stitches 42 color changes. There was only a few hours to complete this one. This features a pair of leopards and rocks in the background, lower front of Ark .

Here's #9 tile .Have had a few days away from the machine doing other things. This tile has the rear of the Ark and bears descending down a ramp. The tile has 72k stitches ,11 applique overlays,68 color changes, this took ages because of the applique layers ,there was a lot of starting and stopping. The stitch out time is 170 minutes but you can triple that with stoppages ie;applique-color changes-taking hoop in and out of machine, trimming applique, probably more like 7 hrs. Have changed the needle 5 times since starting this project. I use 100/16 needle size and swap out every 120k stitches because of the thickness of layers of applique, definitively notice the difference when freshly changed.

Tile #10 is half way, just another 10 to go.This tile was a lot less work as it consisted of 65k stitches -4 applique-41 color changes. The applique on all off the tiles I leave a small tail of the fabric as a tell tail as its hard to remember what color to place as I'm using 5 different browns and 3 greys, 5 greens and it gets a bit bit confusing sometimes, suppose I should tag the fabrics!

Tile #11 and #12 This starts at the left edge lower 3 line with Zebra and Giraffe ,Parrot and Noah part of the waterfall along the lower portion .I am putting up these pics for anyone that's thinking of doing this project as it takes a considerable lot of time to complete each tile and if they would consider if it's worth it both in time and cost.

Macybaby 10-18-2023 07:33 AM

those are really nice! Makes me want to dig out some designs and put my machine to work. I haven't done any embroidery this year, and it would be nice to do some before the year is over!

Another tile finished #14 This required a few color change modifications, didn't matter what I did the tigers looked red -orange so I had to change the colors on the fly, I had to write down what I changed (6) and record it next to color that was registering on the machine. This is because the Tigers blend in to next tile .A problem like this can keep you on your toes and could be a nauseating mistake to redo the tile again if you are not on top the color changes .With such large stitch counts really don't want to be redoing them

Tile #15, well there's five to go, these will be the lower row and I'll be able to stitch it together, hope to have them finished by the end of next week. Sorting out what I will be doing with the back panel, probably go with a 4 inch square Australian indigenous patchwork.

This is the theme I'm using for the back of the Noah's Ark wall hanging. I though about what I may do with the project when finished. It will be a wall hanging but I may just use it as a throw in one of our living area's as the house has 3 living rooms, so a double sided theme seemed appropriate . There are about 80 x 5" squares less the seam allowance.I think there are 140 patterns available in these Aboriginal prints. These pics are just a lay out to see the effect.

This it all stitched together. It needs a good hot press to smooth it out. There is a lot of applique in each panel and makes it very stiff. The next thing is to assemble the rear

QuiltMom2 11-05-2023 04:25 AM

Wow! You really have the knack for assembling these tiling scenes. That's a great idea about being careful to keep track of any color changes.

Hey. Back at the Noah's Ark to finish the back and binding.I'm using a Janome program called Acufil to do the stippling, as it has it's own hoop and program. The hoop has a steel insert and the quilt back just floats on the top and is held in place with magnets.I'm using a scroll pattern on this back, I can use any pattern but the one's that come with the program are sufficient for my needs

ZooAnimals 02-07-2024 04:34 PM

Here's the finish project, All I have to do now is sew a couple of hoops so I can hang it on the wall ..the rear is Australian Aboriginal art and this piece has 63 different prints out of about 140 that are available here in Australia .So this project can hang as the Noah's Ark pictorial or an Aboriginal Art piece ,so it becomes a double wall piece
