Xmas Tree Skirt Project
4 Attachment(s)
This is a JUJU Xmas Tree Skirt Project for in the hoop . All machine brand files are available There is a lot of Applique and it takes days to complete. The pattern has a very comprehensive PDF on how to construct embroider and applique for the project. There are about 40hrs off embroidery-applique This could be longer as I created new files so I could embroider consecutively along material and slide it along in the hoop..just had to use the hoop grid for alignment to save some time rehooping every piece..What you see is not finished, it is just been sewed together I still have to put a back on I will ditch stitch this as it's one large piece of material cut to shape. There will be binding all around the edge and center..This is a great project if you like embroidery and applique...The pattern allows for 3 sizes.

Beautiful tree skirt!
That's an intense project with all 45 designs. I love your modification to the instructions. It would save on stabilizer, batting and fabric. What stabilizer did you use for the embroidery? I have all the fabric, batting and 101 cut ready to go. All 3 sections will be the same fabric. I'm also going to add tabs and snaps to close the skirt vs binding and ties. |
You really spent a lot of time on this. You should be proud because the finished tree skirt is beautiful!
Hi Rhonda K. I agree it is an intense project but that's what I like, the more intricate the better! I use the stiffest (heavy) stabilizer cut away, so I don't get any puckering or distortion around edges,I use it on most of my projects now...You are right about using fewer consumables as the cost accumulates on a project like this..This will probably be in the $300 mark when finished, everything is more expensive here in Australia. I've seen it made with just the same fabric and it looks really kool.. definitely saves a lot of time piecing it together

Hi QuiltBaer Thankyou for you interest in this project
Oh, my that is an amazing piece of work. So intricate and visually interesting. Any tree would be proud to be skirted with your beauty.
Lovely tree skirt!
Absolutely beautiful. I bought the pattern, but the project will have to wait until next year.
Thank you for the stabilizer tip to use cut-a-way. Did you use a regular hoop or a magnetic hoop? Love your machine.
Wow, stunning! Great job.
This is so pretty. You should be very proud. I like the little elf on the train and also the gingerbread house. The reign deer pulling Santa's sleigh adds a nice touch.
Wow! This is impressive!! I may have to make one next year.

Hi I have made another two of these skirts as a member of the family really wanted one for next Xmas, made it with silver stars and different applique on all the scenes. I also found a different skirt as a Nativity scene, a completely different set of files to stitch out ..there is no applique, just all embroidery, still have to put the backs on all three, that's the next job.
Lovely embroidery work!
Needs to be noted, this is NOT HAND APPLIQUE.
the applique is part of the embroidery. Didn't want to scare anyone off from getting this design Beautiful skirts posted! |
This Applique is not complicated .It is a learning curve and there are plenty of tutorial's on YouTube with this skirt to get you going if you aren't confident to start with . This project has an extensive PDF on how to proceed through for first timers with many photos of how to do it ..Machine embroidery applique to me is a breeze..its all lay-ed out before your eyes as you go..it can be over whelming when there are multi layers but just be calm and it will all fall into place .This project has a max of six or seven overlays on each of the panels... .just follow the instruction and you will get through it..There are a lot of hours (40-50) in the embroidery-applique so patience is a must ..You don't have to stick to the colors in both applique or embroidery its your choice..

WOW! That is gorgeous, so much work but so worth it.
Beautiful tree skirts. Love each design and your creativity with the fabrics. I agree the tutorials are step by step and easy to follow.
Beautiful tree skirts. I just finished the last panel of the tree skirt using a 5 x 7 hoop and although I still have to trim and sew everything together, it was so much fun I’m already planning to make a larger version. It’s addictive and fun.
I think there is just as much work assembling all the 45 pieces plus the back ..Looks fabulous when finished
I just finished this project. It was reasonable easy but I kept the tutorial open on my computer so I didn't get lost. It took awhile but is very beautiful. If you want one for Christmas better start early.
Hi whitetiger Just as you said, best start on this project now as slow coaches could take 6 months to complete, this is a great project for any Embroiders or Quilters
It didn't take me 6 months to complete, about 100 hrs embroidery. I did work on it regularly.

Hi The Xmas tree skirts are finished. I will probably make several more of the applique skirts in different colors as I just like doing them.
They are gorgeous! The layouts look so different with a solid layout or a 3 color layout.
