Watch garage sales, thrift stores, estate sales and auctions. The old quilts that I have are ones my grandmother and my mother made and I wouldn't part with them even for Bill Gates money.

I leave my bedroom window open in the winter, and the air turned down in the summer, just so I can cover up to my chin with my quilt.
I always leave a lot of turn-over on the top sheet so the quilt will stay clean longer. Don't want to get body oils on my quilt.
