We all tell our kids those little rules/guidelines to teach and guide then. Sometimes we cross those lines and break a few of those rules/guidelines and the little ones are right there to reprimand us with a little, "But I thought we weren't supposed to do _____." Today, I got that in regards to the quilting I was doing.

I was quilting and hadn't thought to eat all day. I was reminded when I started to get dizzy. So, I got up to get some low fat frozen yogurt to keep in my dieting and to stave off the hot flashes that have plagued me all morning. Two minutes later, my 8 year old DD came in for some help and saw me sucking on a semi-frozen spoon. She looked around and saw the semi-finished quilt only about 5 feet from me. She looked at me sternly and said, "But I thought we weren't supposed to bring food within 10 feet of the quilts or the sewing machine!" Whooops!

Do as I say not as I do?

My daughter caught a cup (with a lid and straw) on the table the other day while I was sewing and she asked "Mom whos cup is this?" I said "Mine" She said "I am moving it because its not suposed to be here!"

Kid do seem to get the rules. Several years ago my husband was looking for a pair of scissors to cut paper with and picked up my fiskers off the sewing machine which was in the corner of the dining room, and 2 or 3 of the kids all said at the same time "Not the orange handle scissors, they're for fabric". I was very proud of them.

I always told my kids, I'm able to pay/fix/replace/clean it if I mess it up. You are not, so until you are, do what you are told.
