This IS quilt related......
It has been a terrible year as far as "getting outta Dodge goes" Winter is coming and I KNOW I will be STUCK for months again. I decided to get in the car and take a trip from the Ozarks to Des Moines Iowa by myself.
It was POURING in southern Iowa and I couldn't see out of my windshield..As the car veered to the left, I looked out the passenger window - and it was like Heaven opened up and what did I see?? A QUILT SHOP! After hobbling out in the downpour, I staggered out and opened the door to a wonderful shop. It was an old building, and she had it jammed pack FULL of EVERYTHING quilting! Told me to pull up a chair and stay as long as I would like. (How could I sit when she had SO MUCH to see) After visiting for about an hour and noticing that the lightning and thunder had subsided, I thanked her and was off again.
So if any of you are exploring, try Quilt With Us in Lucas Iowa - she is a gem, and the ladies that came in were the nicest of customers too.

I love it when quilt shops are 'warm' enough to be a haven when one needs one.
You're pretty brave to strike out on your own like that; happy you took the safe route and stopped to visit them, too!
