Ok, I have a Husqvarna Quilt Desinger I. It wasn't working quite right last week, so I took it to a sewing machine dealer/fabric store.

They did have to replace a few parts, that was $73. Ok, I didn't know I had a problem with those parts, but hey, they are liscensed to work on these machines.

I got the bill yesterday when I picked up my machine, and it was $200 just to "service" it! That means the yearly cleaning! The receipt said clean and labor, oiling internal parts and checking the belts.

I think that is way too much! It took them less than a day to have it ready for me to pick up. If I would have known it was going to cost $200 for the servicing, I would have never taken it to be fixed.

I am over reacting or does this seem kind of a high price to you? Thanks for any replies. I just needed to vent.

It sounds high to me but if It is now working properly maybe worth the price.

It sounds really high to me for just the yearly servicing.

I only paid $1,200 for the machine 5 years ago because it was used. I have had it serviced before and I think it was under $100 to have it done.

This quilt shop that I went to had used machines starting at $3,000! For a used machine?! Ummm, no thanks! LOL I can go online and find refurbished machines a lot cheaper and new ones less than the costs of their used.

I guess I just learned a lesson, a costly one but I learned. It does have a 90 warranty on what they fixed. Oh yippee! LOL

Sounds high to me and I would question the parts that they replaced. Why did they need replacing? Did they show you the old parts? Ask to save any old parts, this goes for anything, not just your sewing machine. There are too many dishonest people out there.

I think all service is a bit high. I called to have a "noise" checked out on my washer, and they told me up front $90.00 for the 1st 15 min. But at least they told me before billing me!
