Thanks for all of the tips. I've used Elmer's and it did work. I just didn't like to globs of it here and there and the time it took to dry. The glue stick might be a good way for me to go. I like spray because you can reposition it, but I hate the fumes. I wear a bandanna over my face when I use it. I really hate pinning.

This is how I buy it. When I need some I wait for this sale and I buy a dozen cans for me and my friends.

Get on the site SEW FOR LESS 505 runs about $14 for the large cans I buy by the case and sell to others quilters as they need it. I dont sandwich quilts without it hardly any odor and no overspray.

I prefer the Mettler 101A spray. You can get it for $12/can from Allbrands.

I have to agree with many of you. I usually buy it on sale too. But that day, I was in the store shopping for something else and I needed the spray ASAP, so I thought I'd kill 2 birds with one stone. Silly me. I had no idea it would cost that much. Luckily, Walmart has a facsimile spray. I'll let you all know how it works out. Maybe I've stumbled upon a bargain.

There is a spray in the paint dept at Walmart that works the same. Made by 3m and way less expensive

I'm with the Elmer's School Glue folks. So inexpensive and works like a charm every time. I couldn't bring myself to spend even half of that for basting spray. I'd rather buy fabric. (Big cheesy grin) :-)

Nancy's Notions has the "505" for $27.88, so that spray must be the most expensive there is. Dritz is lots cheaper than that and works just as well with no odor.

I do too. I mix mine with some water and put it into a spray bottle, and it is awesome.
