Does it say to MAKE (2) 4.25" squares or
Does it say to TAKE (2) 4.25" squares and stack to cut diagonally twice to get (8) quarter square triangles?

I have a Quarter Square Triangle Ruler...Creative Grids brand. From 2" strips you can cut 1/4 square triangles that will result in a 3"finished square...3.5"unfinished... when 4 of the triangles are sewn together.

Hope this helps a little... please let me know if there's anything I might make clearer.
