I found this set of additional patterns for the Pillow Case Challenge for anyone interested.

    I haven't tried these yet.

I have only made two so far. I am not sure what the total count is for my LQS.

2 is great. If only everyone would make at least one or two they all add up. That's great. If I wasn't doing it with a bunch of friends with a lot of donated fabric I wouldn't make as many as I do. I am lucky to have a LQS so close to me. Everyone doesn't have one that close or one that is involved in the Challenge. I did order some fabric from the Eleanor Burns sale that was less than $3/yard to do a few with, and used a lot of nice fabric I had around home that I had no plans for, but now most is donations, so that makes it easier.

Any one can participate in the pillowcase chalenge. The thrust of it is to donate in your own community. They suggest that there are many places these can be donated, nursing homes, chemo clinics, sick, abused, and negelexted children. All the information is available at the American Patchwork and Quilting website. Be sure to visit there to record any that you donate, you don't need a shop to do it.
I got the people I work with at a Hancock Fabrics to make some and our first collection was 62. We will do another collecion in September and hope to at least double that number.

Just watched the tut from Missouri Quilts. Great tut, that is the way I've been doing them except I also do a french seam for the sides. That way all the raw edges are enclosed.

Thanks, Kwiltykahy, for adding what you did. I hope you encouraged even more people to make and donate pillow cases. I bet you do double that amount in Sept. You are all great.

I used to work at Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa and I saw pictures on one web site where they were handing out pillow cases to the kids there. What a great feeling. And, what a great hospital that is. My kids were both born at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Blank is just the peds hospital section of Iowa Methodist. That sure did make me feel good, so I knew they are going to some good places.
