Angry Ten minute block--HELP

I,m trying to make the 10 minute block by Suzanne McNeil.
I have watched the U-Tube video again and again but I,m
doing something wrong. She is using solids for the video
and I,m trying to use prints for my backround. She doesn't
say whether it is right sides together or wrong,
I have tried both ways and it is still coming out wrong.
Can someone who has made this block tell me what I might
be doing wrong. I know this is an EASY block, and I know it
is me. I have ripped out four times in the last hour.
Thanks.
Elaine

Try looking up 10 minute block on Youtube, there are several different versions of instructions for the same block. This might help.

I too had to watch the video a few times to see how it was done...over and over untill I got it...LOL..I think if you watch the video a few times you should be able to figure it out... when you put the folded block together with the 2 sq, it is like a sandwich with the right sides together and the folded one in the middle.. I most likely will get you really mixed up if I try to tell you how to make this block....LOL... but do watch the video and soon you will get it and will think now how come it took me so long to get this... I know that was how I felt.. Good luck

Do your block as you watch on you tube. Do the first part, then watch the next part as you do it, etc. I had to do that the first time I made one. I got confused when I watched it all then tried it.

you fold the "center" block wrong sides together and the "bread" pieces are right sides together. around the "center block. I hope this helps. Also you are sewing the blocks so that it is like you only filled half the sandwich with "meat" and the opened side is facing out. clear as mud?

use printer paper with marks on one side and staple them according to the instructions to sew. Make another one if the first one is wrong. Keep the right one as a guide.

The 10 minute block took me about 10 hours to figure out. The gal at the qs thought that was really funny, how can it take that long to figure out. posted picture of my quilt in process. Once you do the first one it is easy, fun, and goes fast.

This tutorial is great on the 10 minute block. Should help you clear up the which side is where parts of the block. It took me a few tries to get everything in the right place... still having trouble sewing the 3rd seam since the block just doesn't want to lie flat properly

I had to watch it several times, too. Then i used some 3" scrap blocks to "practise" on until I had it set in my mind. I just pinned them together to get each piece going the right way.... I seem to remember the blocks taking me a little longer than 10 mins, but they are big & you get a whole quilt top done pretty quickly once you get going. Hang in there!
