I saw the 2 fabric applique patterns online, and they are intimidating to me. Can some of you please give me some feedback concerning them? Are they difficult to make? There is a $25 DVD to buy, but I don't want to spend tha money, if I will struggle with that type of project. Can you please explain to me just how the patterns work? I am totally confused about what the procedure is and would deeply appreciate your help and guidance. I have only done raw edge applique for several years and was not really good at needle turn applique. I didn't have the patience with it.

I am doing my first one as we speak. I also do not have the patience for needle turn applique. I layered all the layers together and then sewed along the lines. Have cut away the pieces that need to be. So far so good. Now just thinking about how I want to quilt the rest. I was also intimidated by them but loved them before I did this one. I finally took a deep breath and jumped right in. I am pleased with it and what I did was very easy to do.

Not 100% sure if this is what you are talking about, but I just took a class where a window (circle) shape was cut from an applique shape and a second, contrasting fabric was put under it. We just used fusible and then zigzaged the edges. It wasn't treated any differently than the main applique piece.
Maybe you could post a link so we can give a better answer.
