I think it looks great and I would use yellow for binding.

No ruining of a yard of material that I can see. Beautifully done. I would go along with the yellow suggestions.

Welcome Retired RN ... you're going to find lots of inspiration here for you during your retirement!

OBW = One Block Wonder
The pattern of this quilt is not OBW ... the original poster started to make a OBW and realized the fabric was not right. So, being that she had the pieces cut out, then she used them to make the quilt she showed us in this thread.

I would bind it in yellow. I think that would "finish" it.

I like the idea of yellow binding. It will compliment the yellow that's in the green border! It looks great! Nice job!

Prhaps a narrow yellow border then bind it with the blue?
