Ran out of room. By turning these blocks different ways when set together, you can get many different patterns and have no waste. You are using 3 logs per one 7 1/2" square and if you have 30 squares and 90 logs you will end up with 30 8 1/2" finished blocks. I drew it out on paper and it reminds me of Patience Corner but its a tad different. Maybe someone can make a block and post a pix, I can't do that. Sorry.

I think I would do the Warm Wishes pattern. You could just trim off the extra from the 7 1/2 and add the scraps to your scrap bins.

It looks to me like the first block was going to be something that would come out to 6 inches unfinished and then they were going to attach the 6X2 strips to the sides. The first thing that comes to mind is a quick technique I had seen that makes 2 checkerboard pattern 9-patch blocks at the same time.

Great, can't wait to see them. I made a test block this morning before I left for work and it came out perfect. I made it the way I described in my post. However, there is also another way the same pieces will work. For the second 6" strip you can sew two 2" squares together and attach to one end, as I said, or for a different look you can attach one square at each end of the 6" strip. You will have fun Sunday! I'm going to see if I can hook up my new printer/scanner on Sunday and try to post some pix. Wish me luck; when it comes to electronics I am technically challenged! LOL ;o)
