I want to use stars on a quilt, the stars would be a separate piece sewn on I guess like an appliqué. Does anybody know if there is away to make the stars look 3d or make the stars stand out?

Have you ever made folded stars? You make them out of pieces of fabric and then sew them in place. You could make them separately then sew them on the quilt.

could you put a small strip (darker shade of whatever color you are using for the stars) under a couple sides? Like making a shadow
:-)

I just watched a video on Superior Threads site about using the fusible thread, Charlotte's Fusible Web Thread. When you do the applique using it at the end your applique will puff out. Go to the site and watch. I ordered some of the thread to try.
