It's only an issue if you are using yardage too. Then you need to make sure the measurements match. Sometimes with the pinked edges, it is over 5 inches.

this was always my problem with pre-cuts and why I quit buying them on line. Having to measure was a pain.

Those 5" blocks are not always the same. Be sure before you start that All those squares are 5". Ask me how I know?

If I am using it as a 5" square, I just leave it. Sometimes I may need to trim it down to a smaller piece.
