I just cannot do the math... if I just did squares - how big would it be? Is there anything else easy I could do with them? Would it make it much smaller than just sewing the squares?

I made a King with Moda charm packs. I used about 7 of them.
I made a Disappearing 9 Patch. Wish I could remember the exact info but I can't. Right now it's at the LAQ but it's around 110 X 110 and has a five inch border.
My packs had 40 squares in each so that was about 280 squares.

Edit**
13 X 14 squares is 58 1/2" X 63" (182 squares sewn together)

Yes, any additional cuts and/or seamlines would shorten these measurements.

Have you tried going to Moda's site, and looking at their free patterns for charm packs? :D:D:D

I have been at moda looking - and now I'm just more confused! I think this is the hardest part of quilting for me - I have fabric and I can't figure out what to do with it!!

Thanks Amma - I probably need just a bit more for what I'm thinking - and that does tell me just to be simple! Which is good at this point!!

I have difficulty figuring out the final size with charm packs too, especially if it is an ordinary pattern that uses squares.

Good calculating Amma!! Thanks!

It was EQ  not me LOL
I get lost trying to calculate charms when you cut them in half... or quarters  Even EQ is no help to me then

Here is a pattern calling for 5 charm packs. I hope this works as it is a word document file.

You can always add some solid and make something like this:
