60* cut for hexagon

Oh my heck I am not having a good day at all...I want to make a table topper and it asks the strips to be cut into 60* sections, in the end it makes a octagon ?? like above !!!

Does the * stand for degree? If so it sounds like a perfect triangle where all of it's angles are 60 degrees and all the sides are the same length. Putting 6 of those together will make a hex.

Try applying a piece of colored tape along the 60 degree line on your ruler, that way you can identify it easily.

Well what ever my little table topper is,i know it was a paper pieced square and i cut off the corners at a 45 degree angle.Then i just put on the two boarders.
Could you tell us where we can see the pattern?

Cut out the shape you want on a piece of paper and then tape the paper to the ruler.
