Okay Guys & Gals. I am needing help with a gift for my folks 70th Anniversary. A quilt is out as I made them one for their 60th that had like 97 pictures of there life together. I was thinking a personalized quilted photo album cover, but am stumped on what to do for sure. We are planing to have there picture taken & would like to have a place on front to slide the photo into. The inside of the album will have pages for people to sign, that comes to their party, a place for pictures at the party & a place for cards they get. Any great ideas out there? I have till the first of May to get it done. It is also my Dads 90th birthday that will be celebrated at the same time. So maybe thought of doing the back special for him. I would be so great full if anyone can give me pointers.

I think the quilted cover of the album would be wonderful.

Something that I have seen done that fits with your plans is to give family members (friends too, if you wish) a page for the photo album to write some memories to give to them. An adult child may write a letter. Another an array of photos. The younger GGGrands may draw a picture. Someone might write a poem. Etc, Etc. It's amazing the creativity that comes out, as each gets going on it ... and for your parents it's really a grand gift, as it gives them something to enjoy for many hours and days after the event, when not so many people are around them.

Depending on how large your event is going to be, you could distribute the pages to your other guests to do before they come. Or ask them to jot down some of their memories and bring photos, then you can add to the book after the event.

How about a pocket at the back to hold the cards as a reminder of those people who remembered them but couldn't come. A picture of their wedding day. Individual and group photo and do the same to compare differences.

did you know that the president of the united states will send your mother and father some kind of certificate for being married for so long? i am not sure how to go about it, but if you are determined enough, you ought to be able to find the information and have it ready by may.

rush88888, this is a great idea. Now to figure out how to go about making that happen. I know this would tickle them. Anyone know where I should go to make this happen???? I was thinking of making the book cover a scrappy patch work with different decorative stitches around each piece. What do you all think? I'm sure there will be a large turn out as their 60th was. We will have it advertized in two local papers.

Not being American, I have no idea ........... however, here in Canada the local MPs MPPs, Premier, Prime Minister and Queen all offer congratulatory citations for milestone birthdays and anniversaries. The further you are along the way, the more who will provide. What we do is contact our local Member of Parliament and they look after the contacts to all the other people for you.

So for you, I'd think you'd probably start with your local Congressman.
At least start there and they should be able to tell you who, if not them.

I think your ideas are great. And something along the lines of this post: We were invited to a 50th anniversary party. With the invitation came a card -- picture of the couple on the front and directions and space to write on the back. We were asked to write a favorite memory about each of them or a favorite memory of them as a couple. We brought those to the party and the cards were given to them in an album.

Here's a suggestion- The first page is of them when they married and one of them now. Then each of the kids have a page with pictures with them thru the years, a page with pictures of spouse and then each grandchild have a page. (Scan it so everybody has a copy of the pictures.) For my parents, we took pictures at the event of the people that came and tried to get them in family groups. For example, the next door neighbors with their 2 grown children and families. The page had neighbors, the neighbors with their children and grandkids and then each of the children with their family. Having it like that helped mom and dad remember what kid went with who.

What if you found old clothes/ items that held special meaning over the 70 years together and used those as your album cover? Just adds another layer of love!
