Hand work is not becoming less popular, there are several groups on Facebook. Just got to look around. Try watching some videos on the technique you want to try. Then start small, perhaps the size of a pillow case or a bit larger. And remember, your quilt, your rules. If you are happy with it, that is all that counts!!

I started hand quilting on a panel of flowers & birds. I was just going to sew around the birds - found it so enjoyable and relaxing that I then sewed around the flowers, then the leaves, etc. I don't worry about even stitches - don't even give them a thought. I get the "warm fuzzies" when I quilt!!! It's for me, not for anyone else. Have done the same thing with an all-over pattern. Very theraputic!
