I think abbreviations leave a lot to interpretation.
It can mean what the reader wants it to mean at the moment.
Some of them tickle me. OBW is the hardest one for me to remember. I am just beginning to know it is one block wonder before I have to look it up. Some of them I just ignore.
Question: Is there a reason we don't use our family names instead of DH (husband) DD (daughter) DS (son) and so on? Is there jeopardy in using their first name?

The one that confuses me is SIL, because it has 2 meanings. Son-in-law and Sister-in-law. Sometimes when I'm reading a post, it doesn't make sense. Then I change the meaning - and it makes more sense!
