Back stitch on my Brother Pacesetter XL700.

My Mother recently gave this to me and she lost the manual. I need to start sewing but do not know how to put the sucker in reverse to "lock" a stitch in place.

I am not real sewing machine savvy....I am still learning. I have done most of my sewing and quilting projects by hand.

HELP!

Thank you in advance.

Have you googled "Brother Pacesetter XL700 manual"? I'd start there.

After that, I'd plug "Brother Pacesetter XL700" into the search engine at this (Quilting Board) website. No telling what wisdom that might yield.

Good luck!

Is there an arrow that looks like a u turn sign? Or maybe this website will help: http://www.sewingmanuals.com/Sewing_...ls/Brother.htm

Nope no U turn sign...I have looked everywhere for a manual. I have found nothing. I emailed the company...so I shall see what they say.

In the mean time I need to get sewing...blah.

Sorry for your troubles...I thought you could find it on the "net".

Maybe you can ask a local sewing machine dealer.

I just Googled images for this machine. Didn't find the exact model, but it looks as if most of the Brother machines have either a lever or a push-button below the stitch selector dial. If it's a lever, you would push down on it to reverse. If it's a square push-button type, I think you would push that in or down. In both these cases the reverse is just a temporary position; the lever or button would revert as soon as you let up on the pressure.

If you could post a photo of the machine, that might help.

I would say that the white round button in the middle of the stitch length is the reverse button....you hold it in to reverse
then let it go to do straight stitching.
