Default Advice please... on quilted jacket

Hello! I'm signed up for a class to sew a quilted jacket- never done anything like that before. We are to pick our fabric and piece it, then cut into large pieces prior to the class. Then at the class we'll cut the pattern out of the pieced squares and sew them. I saw two samples of the jacket. One was black and white print squares. The other was neutral color strips. My preference was for the strips but wondered what other ideas you all might have? Thanks in advance, I appreciate your help

What sort of advice are you looking for? This is a link to a quilted jacket I made last year, but we didn't make it in the same way. - http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t219139.html

I've done several different ways. Crazy quilt the fabric and Bargello are the easiest ones. This is a picture of one I did with strips

That jacket is beautiful. For my class I have to piece large rectangles, for ex 32"x 16" for each side of the front. Then we'll cut out the pattern. I'm looking for ideas other than squares or strips. ?

How about a OBW? That could be gorgeous on a jacket.

One block wonder? I have seen some cool pictures. Never tried it. Anyone know of a pattern that's not too difficult.?

Oh WOW, I loved this site. So many ideas! I make quilted sweatshirts for charity and now I have so many ideas. I also will be teaching a class and I plan on giving this site out to the girls. They always want to know where I get my ideas ( I just audition the fabric and go from there) If I get stuck and bring my granddaughter in for her opinion.
