All conflicted. Buy or don't buy
Joann's popped up this morning with a sale notice. I found an Art Bin Super Sachel thread storage box. It will fit 108 spools of regular size stuff. Maybe Mettler, Aurifil, Sulky, and probably Connecting Threads. But?? Should I?? It's hard to leave the empty shoe box world of thread organization.

I have way too much thread. The Rayon thread for embroidery is the largest collection, I have that in plastic cabinets that each have 6 removable covered thread trays. My long arm thread is in the old three shelved built-in book cabinet with glass doors by the fireplace, my regular sewing thread and misc. thread is in the shallow six drawers in the cabinet that fits under the table of my sewing cabinet. Oh, and serger thread is just in plastic boxes under the old library table. While my thread now spread out over three rooms, I am glad I have sorted it out and can plainly see what I have by opening a drawer, cabinet or see-through box. I would say, if you have a place to store and use that box, go for it.

I use the 1000m, 3000m & 5000m thread spools and they won't usually fit in these boxes with the little thread guides attached. Deep drawers or the deeper satchel bins with blank innards are my choices. The bins are so easily portable, latch easily and can hold entire projects for a weekend of sewing. I have MANY of them....got to get sewing!

Will all the thread fit in one box or will you need two of them?
I customize dry erase board with golf tees to store embroidery threads. I will make another board to store smaller spools some day. The boards are cut to fit in the drawers. Easy to slide out and see all the colors.
