i get mine in the garden department.
they serve a multitude of purposes.
you can mix the solution you need, adjust varying degrees of spray or stream, and apply.
i can usually find them for around $5.

look for "hand pump sprayer" or similar phrase.

I never starch anything. I need to look for one as I do sometimes mist fabric with water, while pressing.

I've been using a garden sprayer, not the one with the hose attachment, for probably 5 years. LOL Works great for me.

How big is it, please? The ones I Googled look rather large compared to the 22 oz. spray bottle I'm currently using.

the pump sprayer would probably soak your fabric instead of misting it.

I make a dilution 1 part Sta-flo and 3 parts water in a large pot and dip just washed (still wet) fabric in it. Wring it out a little and hang to dry. Then iron when almost dry. No need for any sprayer and you get a heavy starch.

Another poster here posted some time ago about using one of these pump sprayers to glue baste her quilts. have been using it every since. I dilute Elmers's glue and spray it on. I found my small pump at General Dollar in the yard/garden section. I think it was $10. I dip fabric in liquid starch in a wringer bucket and then use the attached mop wringers to squeeze the excess back into the bucket.

DJ-my pump sprayer is 1 1/2 quarts. It doesn't do a "fine mist" but it's adjustable to just about whatever you want it to be. You do have to clean out the nozzle though sometimes, but it works great for me.
