How many blocks do you want to use?
Are you planning to apply borders? How many? How wide?

Find out what pattern you want to do. There is a chart for quilt sizes. You can go to search on the board.

You usually add to the length...10 to 15 " but you can simply measure from a few inches under the pillow and up over and down on the pillow on your bed to know what length to add. If your question is truly about the size of a block, measure your pillow to see what size block would fit best.
