Default Another paper piecing question

I posted a question earlier about what line to cut on and found out to cut on the dotted line. That's what I did but now the other non PP blocks look like they are 1/4 inch to short. I'm confused. Any insight would be appreciated.

Based on your photo, "section 1" unit the edge is 1/4" from the point. That is correct way it should look. Your unit 1 and 2, by the nature of the unit, won't have that.

There are several possibilities as to what has happened. Because I believe your Section 1 unit is correct the possibilities are:
Your pattern may have given you incorrect sizes to cut for units 1 and 2 (the colored fabric)
The sections for Unit 1 and 2 were mis-cut
Have you checked to see if the pattern maker issued a correction?

Thanks feline. I did not find any corrections and i rechecked all my measurements. All were correct. After all the blocks are done ill see if taking 1/4 inch off the bottom of the PP block will correct it.

actually, I thought the same thing about the points on my maple leaf. when you sew those together, you will 'lose' 1/4" of the point. This is correct because it leaves 1/4" seam allowance. You'll have to try one to believe it.. I had to LOL

Wow you drew it. That's impressive. It looks great. Hopefully some day mine will too.

When I paper piece, the templates are the finished size of the piece. Add 1/4" all around it when cutting the fabric piece.
