Another reason to label our quilts

My nieces are a bit older than my own kids and they are all starting families now so I've been making a lot of baby quilts. One niece upset me because she never acknowledged the baby quilt I had to box up and send clear across the country when her little girl was born. I finally called her mother to see if the box ever got there.
A few weeks ago she called her grandmother (my Mom) in tears. She had gone to drop her daughter off at daycare only to find an official looking notice on the door saying the daycare was closed permanently. (Turns out the owner got in trouble with the IRS and fled). She called my Mom in a panic because Lexi's quilt was still there. Mom told her to go back and see if there was a phone number on the door to call. She went back and found some people in the building, knocked on the door and explained to the man who answered that she wanted her little girl's blanket back. He asked if she could identify it. She said, yeah I can show you where it is. He said, sorry, no one is allowed in here. Can you describe it? She told him it's pale green and yellow with Winnie the Pooh characters embroidered on it. Oh, and there's a label on the back with her name and made by Aunt Pam on it. He went in and returned in less than 2 minutes with the quilt.
Maybe she would have gotten it back anyways but I'm glad I put that label on it.

I'm glad she got the quilt back, and that she really does appreciate it, after all, but how scary that irresponsible ppl were watching her child .

Just one more reason to label our creations. I have to admit I hadn't thought of something like that happening.

I am glad she got her quilt back. I just posted pictures we found in my late mother in law's house. We pretty sure who made it but nothing else.
I too didn't label but do now.

I'm glad she was able to get it back. Whew! Good thing you labeled it. Yup, I label mine, even if its just us to use.
