These are fabulous! I keep all my bits, and have quite a good pile - now I know what to do with them! Is this what used to be called a "crazy" quilt?

Crumbs are similar to crazy quilts but crazy quilts are beautifully embellished. Some gorgeous crazy quilts have been posted - here's a link to one of them http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-113115-1.htm

Are crumb quilts the same as string quilts?

I'd gotten a whole checkbook box full of 2 inch squares already cut - but not necessary square - so I made 4-patch blocks out of them as I wondered desperately how my newest little great nephew was doing in the hospital.. they had no idea what was wrong, expecting the worst, taking tests daily and ruling out everything as they went, finding in the end it was lactose intollerance and reflux... so i got a lot of blocks finished during that time, and as they came to a conclusion, so did I with that little box of squares; 81 blocks when finished!

I came across this pdf. Great info on size of scraps and how to organize them.

Hi alapetitechaise, Crumb quilts are made with odd shapes and strips too. Strings are made with strips.

Here is a link to Izy’s tutorial for crumbs: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-6930-1.htm

Here is a link to a tutorial of Ditter's for string quilts: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-60791-1.htm
