Dick Blick sells a painting fabric medium that you mix with acrylic paint to keep the paint flexible. Once it has dried on fabric it is as permanent as paint is on canvas. It is advertised for painting on sweatshirts, etc. Works like a dream. You use regular artists acrylic paint available in all colors at Hobby Lobby or from Dick Blick or anywhere else.

Any experience on keeping the paint soft so it does not crack? Thanks for the tip. Have acrilic paint and a Dick Blick close by!

There is an inexpensive medium you add to inexpensive acrylic paint. It has stayed on sweatshirts since the early 90s with many washings.

Golden GAC 900 Fabric Medium is the fabric medium that Dick Blick sells. It is what keeps the paint soft and pliable. Use according to directions, test a piece of fabric first to be sure it meets your standards and adjust accordingly.I have had excellent results with the paint being as flexible as dye.

This is exactly what I use and I love it. I get mine at Michael's it's a little expensive. Especially if you have a 40% off coupon. I paint a lot on fabric and this is the best I've found.

Never heard of such a thing before. Thanks for the question and the information. Might be something fun to do with grandkids.
