Your blocks are so cute.
Welcome to the Quilting Board!
I LOVE the chicken blocks!!
Have a wonderful trip girl! It sounds like a fabulous vacation!
I was down to O'Brien's Whale Watching Boat Tour on Saturday. We met friends of ours there who took the 10am tour. We met up with them around 12:30 and then headed out to Ferryland for the Lighthouse picnic. There we had the best free entertainment of watching whales breaching right out of the water flipping and tossing around!! It was an incredible thing to see! I have seen whales all my life here on the island but it was my first time seeing them coming right out of the water and flipping around like that! I guess they were also happy to see the sun and warm weather after dealing with almost 3 full weeks of rain, drizzle and fog!
yeah... we usually don't tell tourists that they might see whales from the shoreline ... not good for business!
I am happy that the whales are still here. I might get one more ride in before we leave on the trip. Last year the whales left the reserve August 25th (our wedding day) but were back again in September for a few days. We're hoping a few might hang around. My stepson is coming home in September from Alberta and he desperately wants to see whales. He spent all his summers while he was growing up on the boats with his uncles.
I love them all but my favourite has got to be the appliqued one with a little baby chick hitching a ride!

That quilt is going to be alot of fun. You could also do raw edge. Tht would giev the aperance of feathers around the chickens.
If I use fusibles, then I straight stitch around the edges with matching thread or blanket stitch or zig zag. I do needle turn too, with the help of Roxanne's glue baste it. Grat stuff--doesn't stain and washes out.
How do you want it to look? Truned gives you a finished (neat) look while a raw edge gives you a rough (more like feathers) look. Try each on a small pice of fabric to see witch one you like best.
That is just too cute! Love it! :D
