After all the talk about applique, I now need to know what fusible material do you use? I like to know the one with sew around the edges and turn it inside out so that no raw edge is showing.

Elanor Burns suggests a light weight fusible interfacing for that method.

Do you know the brand name for it? I have Pellon and it's really thin. I don't think it's possible to sew around it. I think this is the one that you just fuse to your block.

If you're doing the "turn and fuse" method of applique, the Pellon should work just fine. You don't want a heavy fusible as it will make the applique really look bulky. :D

I learned something new. I'd never heard of turn and fuse method of applique but I'm liking the idea.

I use a lightweight fusable pellon for that and it works great. Sew it on, cut a slit in the pellon, turn it right side out, iron on and stitch. I did a sunbonnet Sue that way. Even with the little arm pieces, it worked good.

Thank you so much for responding to this question. I'm working on an applique quilt and i've already got the tracing part done. I now just need to cut out my fabric but just didn't want my raw edge showing.

I've done labels that way and it worked well. It's pretty simple to do. :-D

Thanks for the label idea! I use the unprinted Quilt Smart for this type of applique. It is a wonderfully thin fusible interfacing.
