Very cool! Thank you! I will check that out!

Then add the batting and backing to quilt the project.

I'll post a couple of pics later for you and look up the machine stitch I used for it.

ETA: Check the Quilting stitches. You may like the one Q-06 (looks like a zig zag in Christmas tree outline). Adjust the length and width. I make a sample stitch out first before stitching applique pieces.

5 hours? Wow, that's great. I would be a zombie and would get no quilts made

I would appliques first if you are doing a 'full' quilting later. That way it wouldn't compete with the look of the back. This also helps with the thread color choices. But, if you want the design (and the thread) to show on the back and simply do your quilting around these designs, then definitely quilt thru the sandwich.

Marion,

I just saw your question so I apologize for the delay. Here is the link for EMB machine files for some of the applique dies. You add a fusible layer to the fabric back and then cut out the shape with the die. You can only cut 4 layers with fusible NOT 6 as usual. After stitching the placement line add the applique piece.

The stitch outs that I have done worked well with the coordinating die.

Good luck and have fun!
